A few days ago a mother gave me a note without telling me anything.

Usually when mothers give a note, it is to plead for their children and they are specific in their request, such as:

“Please pray to God that my child (so-and-so) may succeed in his/her exams”.
Or “that he may make a good family by finding a good match”; or “that he may do well in his interview and be employed”; or “that he may find a better job”; or “that he may overcome his health problem”; or “that he may keep his marriage”; or “that he and his wife may have a baby”; and lots of other things…

But this time the request was different! When the woman left, I opened the note and I read:

(name): Sarantaleitourgo (Daily successive liturgies for forty days)
“That he would come back to the Sacraments”

i.e. that he would come back to Church and henceforth participate in the Sacraments of our Church…

This mother conveyed her request in these few words, which however mean so much and embrace the essential solution to whatever problem her child was having…

” That he would come back to the Sacraments”

It was so moving! It was the first time I have heard such a request, far different from the previous examples I mentioned…
A request she received through the Holy Spirit!

This woman knew how to hit bull’s eye.
She knew how to ask for the ONE thing that would take care of EVERYTHING!
