For, the extremes come always from demons, both from the left and from the right.
Everything should be done in moderation.
This applies to both the spiritual struggle of the soul and to our care of the body (that is, clothes, food, labour, rest), which also contributes to our whole spiritual struggle…
So, everything should be done in moderation.
This is what discretion requires…
(SIN/ FALL/ DISAPPOINTMENT/ REPENTANCE)
We, humans, unfortunately, may easily slip into sin. It is therefore wondrous to see someone who, with the help of sobriety, care and prayer, manages to escape from the traps of the enemy and not fall into them.
Even more wondrous is to see someone who has fallen into sin, to be able – with God’s help – to escape and turn away from it!
So you, at whatever point of your fall you may be, ensure that you escape from satan and – imitating Peter – go out (Matthew 26:75) and like the Ethiopean eunuch, continue your way … rejoicing! (Acts 8:39)
In doing so, you will be as praiseworthy as the person who has not fallen at all; for, just as in the case of this person, God rejoices and is glorified by your return!
This is all in inaccordance with the the Bible, which says, “where sin increased, grace abounded all the more. So that, just as sin has exercised domination in death, so grace might also exercise domination through justification, leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord» (Romans 5:20-21).
Let this be done!
