The Metropolitan of Paphos, His Eminence Tychikos, today celebrated the Memorial Service of our ever-memorable Elder Athanasios the Hieromonk at the Holy Monastery of Trooditissa, assisted by His Grace the Bishop of Arsinoe, Pancratios, and the Fathers of the Monastery.

After the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Great Schema Monks, having observed a three-day fast in accordance with the Internal Regulations of the Monastery, proceeded in unity to the Great Synod Hall and, in the presence of the Bishops of Paphos and Arsinoe, elected the Protosyngellos Damaskinos as the new Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Trooditissa.

The enthronement of the new Abbot has been scheduled for the 25th of May, the Sunday of the Blind Man, a day on which the 40-day Memorial Service for our venerable Elder Athanasios will also be held, presided over by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Cyprus, George.
