It sometimes happens that we are verbally attacked by someone.
Either directly or indirectly (sometimes the latter is worse), or, as I said, hurling words at you directly to your face.

And it is true that in such cases, this operates in us the reflex of self-defence or even as a counterattack. That is, to want to pay back the affront or insult received, in order to put him in his place.

However, it is also true that in most cases we regret having retaliated, or perhaps, when we have spoken up and have not kept silent. Because it is possible that we may even say words that we may later regret.
So what do we do in these cases? Especially, when our neighbour behaves in this manner as a matter of course?

I suggest the following:
Instead of responding to his bad words, talk inwardly to Christ and tell him: “Jesus, please answer him, I pray thee.”
Or, if the attacker insists on responding, just tell him:
“God will answer you…”

In this way you will maintain your peace and joy, and Christ, by speaking to Him, will do much better than you, for, He knows what and how to speak…
